The Round-Up: Second Edition

This past week, I spent most of my free time lying on the couch fighting off a head cold.  But it gave me a chance to check out some new music, and enjoy some delicious chicken noodle soup, courtesy of Campbell’s.

Here’s what I’ve stumbled upon this week:

Musical score I’m obsessed with right now: the soundtrack to True Blood on HBO. Bryce and I watch the show every week, and being the music nerd that I am, I have picked up on the genius score in the background.  The composer has created various themes for certain characters, and plays them in different formats every time those characters come on screen.  In particular, the theme for Bill and Sookie, and the theme for Eric and Sookie resound throughout the entire season, and just bring a whole new level to the storyline. You can find the album on Amazon.

Songs from someone you wouldn’t expect: Hugh Laurie (also known as House) has released a blues album.  At first listen, you would never guess that the wise-cracking doctor is the one behind it all.  It features the classic blues sound, and has some great tracks.

Speaking of blues albums: Jeff Bridges (the Dude himself) also has a new album out, featuring a wide range of genres. Bridges got into the music scene while filming Crazy Heart, which he won his first Oscar for.  He’s a very talented actor, and now a very talented musician. Definitely worth a listen.

The fall season has arrived: We’re still a week or two away from the official start of the autumn season, but you might as well let the leaves change now. The Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks, which to me, is the real reason fall exists. (Now I just have to impatiently wait for the Caramel Brulee Latte at Christmas.)

The second best thing to mom’s chicken soup: While Bryce and I lay at home feeling sorry for each other all week, while using up entire boxes of tissues, we indulged in a classic home remedy: chicken noodle soup. I’ve always been a fan of Campbell’s soup, and now they make it even easier, by putting it in convenient microwave bowls. Thanks Campbell’s for helping me out on the road to recovery this week.

Next best thing to homemade.

And with that, I’ll leave you all to your weekend! Stock up on soup, stay away from anyone with the cold I had, and enjoy the start of fall!
